What is the difference between a strike and a demonstration?

A strike is normally used by labour unions as one of the last means in case any dialogue instances have failed and there seems to be no other way to be heard. During a strike, one is refusing to go to work which is normally not approved by the employer. Hence, the employer loses profit, which of course is not in his/her interest but as previously mentioned, it is one of the last means to improve working conditions for workers. If you juxtaposed this to school students, they do not have an employer, but they can strike during school hours to make a political stance.

A demonstration is normally hold outside of work or school hours to raise awareness about certain issues. Both forms: strike and demonstration, are publicly mobilising people to bring their points across and raise awareness.
